How Does LED Light Work?

LED, light emitting diode therapy is used in skin care treatments because of its various wavelengths. LED stimulates cellular responses to increase a smooth, plump and youthful complexion.

Spa professionals use Red and Blue LED Therapy as a solution for certain skin concerns like acne, sun-related pigment concerns, wrinkles or scars. Unlike other light therapy, LED light does not contain ultraviolet rays.

Apply RED LED light therapy to the top of the epidermis (outer most layer of skin). Light absorbs and stimulates collagen proteins. Collagen fibroblast is important during skin healing. Light engages with skin cells to excite cellular mitosis. Red light is the primary light which starts this activation between light and cellular activity.

Red light reduces inflammation which provides skin with a stress-free environment for healthy immunity responses. Importantly, treatment time of 10-20 minutes is ideal for optimum skin results.

Blue Light Therapy

Blue light is important for Good Health. Research shows light therapy improves alertness, cognitive function and elevates positive mood. Exposure to Blue Light during daytime hours helps maintain a healthful circadian rhythm.

However, too much e-reading on the computer, tablet or phone is not healthy for eyes.

Blue light is significant when treating oily or acne skin. Blue light targets sebaceous glands (oil glands) and acne causing bacteria which contributes to cyst, pimples, breakouts, follicle congestion, open and closed comedones.

IR “Infrared” Light

Infrared is invisible light and has a wavelength between 700-1200 nanometers. Red and Infrared light are absorbed through the epidermis to stimulate and activate collagen proteins.

Infrared generally generates heat which makes the body sweat. This heat excites elimination by perspiration which purifies and rids the skin of toxins. Skin purification is essential when supporting immunity responses.
